Caroline Hartge was born in 1966 in Hannover, Germany . A poet, translator and editor. She studied English and Spanish language & literature and Geography, incl. two terms at Exeter, Devon, UK university, and a five month trip across the USA. She currently works in a literary agency which handles mostly UK, US and German rights. She started to publish in 1987, and has had her work included in Link, Trash Piloten (Reclam Leipzig, 1997), der Neue Conrady (Artemis & Winkler, 2001) und Kuhligk/Wagner, Lyrik von Jetzt (DuMont, 2003). Several poems were translated into English by Douglas Airmet (Temple, Vol. 5 No. 2, 2001) and into Italian by Anna Ruchat. Her sixth volume of poems, Wilde Brombeeren, will be published by Verlag Peter Engstler in 2008.
She edited a reference book on German-language literary magazines (Handbuch der deutschsprachigen Literaturzeitschriften, 1997) and is working with Ralf Zühlke on a book on the poetry magazine FALK from the 1980's (QuerFALK, to be published by Verlag Peter Engstler in 2007). She is also the translator of beat poet Lenore Kandel's books The Love Book and Word Alchemy and her three books from 1959 with Three Penny Press (English/German, Stadtlichter Presse, 2005 - 2007). She is currently working on translations of beat contemporary Elise Cowen's and Nebraska story writer Weldon Kees' works which will be released by Stadtlichter Presse.
