Tonite We Dance
Here I am a mute.
Blossoming sound in an otherwise dark place.
Words dazzling in a stream of my invisible voice.
The volume transcends 'cross the canvass of your mind.
This junction is our subconscious dream
With mythological images dancing with the lights.
Tonite, your hushed faces seem a wooden graveyard
Suddenly filled with ivory tombstones
Like a giant Pegasus just flew overhead
And all its teeth fell out and landed in chairs.
That is your face and you are in your scheduled location.
So, tonite let's let rhythm breed in the hollows of our ears
As though bongos were sounding from the mountains
Through the jungles of wheat and crops etc., essayed with meticulous,
Wild and seductive aromas.
The playground of imagination thrives tonite
Even under these overcast skies
Where thick gray clouds wrestle upon the infinite prairies of space,
Slogging towards the refreshed horizon of tomorrow morning.
So, tonite, for now, let us watch the trees slowly wave hello, good-bye
To the yawning birds, nestled in the summer hair of the brush.
Listen to the patterns there wings might make.
A jilted flutter, a plastic bone coiled in the shadows of the dusk.
Tonite lift up your heads in wanderlust
We’re here to dine, with our ears
A feast of words has been prepared for you all.
So, let us take ourselves less seriously
And dance, dance here, there, home, in the nite clubs we dance.
Under the light of the moon, the sun, the strobing fractals
Slowly strobing, slow, strobe, slow, strobe, slow,
so, slow
It spins our torso surreal like a girl on acid
Determined to light a cigarette with a broken lighter,
Distracted in the sparks and dancing till she dies
Like a starving mouse trapped in a maze
With walls made of poisoned cheese.
We'll dance like an octopus with a broken watch on each of its arms.
Oblivious of time, ignorant of form, flailing about in the tepid ocean
Like a sailor below deck dancing to a fuzzy AM station
Playing the same song song song song song song over and over
Tonite we'll dance like vampires letting our bodies bite and chew
One another till we succumb to exhaustion and wash up in the corner.
Bloodlessly intoxicated with the incessant rhythm of our own panting.
