the Temple Magazine

Contents

The Temple Magazine was a quarterly founded by Charles Potts in 1997, distinctive chiefly in its publishing of multi-lingual poetry. While the focus was generally on English speaking poets, a variety of Spanish and Chinese poetry was published in translation.

Charles Potts served as the General Editor for the duration of the Temple's existence along with Denis Mair serving as Chinese Editor and John Oliver Simon as the Spanish Editor. In later issues Stephen Thomas and Travis Catsull would serve as Assistant Editors. The Temple also had a small group of consulting Editors, including Edward Dorn, Hugh Fox, Yan Li, Barbara La Morticella, Yamada Hisao and others.

The Temple produced 20 regular issues and a final "Diet Temple" supplemental issue between 1997 and 2002. The poetic content of the Temple Magazine is currently being made available online through The Poets' Encyclopedia.com.
